Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone. This is the first time in about 5 years that I can actually have eggs. I thought that my migraines were caused by chocolate so I gave up. Turns out they weren’t so I now have Easter eggs! This is a close up shot of one of those Easter bunny chocolates, with the bell on.

The Apple Factor

Another Mac inspired shot. Kind of a cliche but I’m a bit desperate today. The weather is all over the place. I’m hoping it gets better later on when I’m out in Liverpool. Its just started raining, clearly someone knows I’m coming. Information on Kenko Extension Tubes. Very handy for quick macros, and about ¬£200 cheaper than a proper lens.

Camera: Canon 30D // Flash Used: No // Focal Length: 50.0mm // Exposure Time: 1/3200 // Aperture: f/1.8 // ISO equiv: 1600 // Exposure Bias: -1.00 // White Balance: Auto // Metering Mode: Matrix // Exposure: aperture priority (semi-auto) // Canon 50mm f/1.8 + Kenko Extension tubes

Power

Power

Continuing my still life theme this week, this is the power switch to my Macbook Pro. I’ve got my Xmas lights up still and it created a nice effect on the aluminium coating on my Mac. Its a bit noisy because I didn’t use a tripod so I just set it to ISO1600.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone. I was hoping for a better shot today but unfortunately New Years Eve took a slightly greater toll on me than expected. I wanted a great sunrise shot to start the new year. I would have posted this shot earlier but typically I lost my card reader, my 30D didn’t work in OSX (oddly) and my Epson P2000 battery died and it took ages finding the charger. On a side note I’d like to thank Ian Jackson from Art in Liverpool for the great write-up today as part of their new Art of the Day feature. So, Happy New Year everyone. My resolution is 1440×990, shameless stolen from today’s What the Duck. Seriously though, the usual cliches, keeping up with the 1 photo a day for my blog, and pushing my self harder and further. Starting tomorrow :D Have a great year guys.

Happy Christmas

Happy Christmas

Happy Christmas everyone. A day late but Christmas Eve was manic and Christmas day was occupied by my Nintendo Wii. Zelda is a great game. Hope everyone’s had a great Christmas.

Xmas Optics

Xmas Optics

Bit of a late entry today. Been out getting last minutes supplies with my sister and my nephew. Quite strange being an Uncle. Anywho this is a reworking of a shot from a while back. I wanted to combine the red and yellow shots I had to make something a little cooler. Now you can’t exactly use colour select on something that’s 100% red. So I used the threshold tool to create a mask based on a certain area of the histogram, so to speak. Then I feathered that and deleted the area replacing it with the yellow image. This created a perfect blend for this image. I’m really happy with how it turned out and I learnt a new trick that I can apply to other images.
